At Timothy Christian School, the emotional, social, physical, cognitive, and most importantly, spiritual growth of a preschool aged child is a high priority. Children are given an academic experience that is hands-on, child-centered, developmentally appropriate, and taught from the foundation of God’s Word.
The basis of the curriculum is the Letter People program by Abrams Learning. This hands-on curriculum is a balance of teacher directed and child initiated activities designed to meet the needs of individual learning styles. The curriculum provides a balance of learning and play while encouraging cognitive and social growth.
Throughout the day, children will enjoy activities in Bible, reading readiness, reading and writing skills, math, science and social studies. In addition to the contained classroom, children will also participate in recess, music and library times outside of the classroom.
Children will study God’s Word through weekly Bible verse devotionals as well as a curriculum tracing the pattern of God’s plan of salvation through scripture using Bob Jones Bible Curriculum as a resource. The formation of spiritual and Christian character is developed through intentional integration of God’s Word into all aspects of the day.
Recognizing that the home is the center of learning for a child at this age, the preschool program at TCS seeks to partner with parents to provide a foundation of learning and support that will prepare them emotionally, socially and academically for elementary school.
