This winter, Timothy Christian School elementary students once again put their faith into action through our annual Blankets of Hope outreach project. Each year, students partner with local ministries to bring comfort and encouragement to individuals experiencing hardship.
The initiative began with a special elementary chapel led by Mrs. McInerney, who introduced the project by teaching students about empathy and what it means to care for others in tangible ways. Students learned that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference in someone’s life.
Elementary families generously donated blankets, and each student took time to write a heartfelt letter to attach to a blanket. These notes included prayers, words of encouragement, and reminders that the recipient is seen, valued, and loved by God.

This year, the majority of the blankets will be distributed through Bridges Outreach, a ministry dedicated to ending homelessness in Essex, Somerset, and Union counties. Bridges Outreach works to move individuals from crisis to stability with dignity and support through street outreach and intensive case management focused on health, housing, and independence.
In addition, some blankets will be delivered through Grace Chapel of Bedminster. Our very own third-grade teacher, Miss Stevenson, attends Grace Chapel and will help coordinate distribution through their church partners to ensure the blankets reach those in need.
We are so proud of our elementary students for living out compassion in such a meaningful way. Through projects like Blankets of Hope, our students are learning that faith is more than words—it’s action.
