We are so excited to welcome Mrs. Jacquelyn Liput as a full-time high school English Literature teacher. Mrs. Liput earned her bachelor’s degree in English Literature from the University of Delaware. Her background includes more than twelve years of teaching in co-ops, pods, homeschool, and church. She has also been a substitute at TCS for the past two and a half years. When we asked her to come on staff full time in the English department, she graciously accepted! This year she is teaching Introduction to Literature, Honors Introduction to Literature, and American Literature. Let’s hear from Mrs. Liput why she is grateful that God brought her here to TCS!

What/Who inspired you to take up teaching?

God has gifted me with the role of teacher, especially for youth. Bringing up and encouraging the next generation of Christian leaders, teachers, disciples, and parents has become a labor of love for me.

Why did you choose to teach at TCS?

My friend, Sara Koshy suggested I become a substitute teacher a few years ago. At the time, it was the perfect balance since I was teaching Formal Logic at a co-op part-time where I needed to take the time to train another teacher to take my position before I left. I enjoyed trying out different subjects and grade levels when I subbed. But my favorite part has been getting to know the people at TCS. Everyone acts beautifully toward each other by treating one another with respect and dignity. The accountability to which we hold students is admirable as compared to other schools.

What do you love most about TCS?

My favorite part about TCS is how people behave toward one another. I notice everyone helping each other and that is the way we are supposed to behave. God expects us to submit to one another which we do not see happening often in our pride focused society. (I too am guilty of not behaving humbly enough.)

What is one word that best describes the school? Why?

“Faithful” – TCS is faithful for numerous reasons. We have chapel. We have disciple groups. We are privileged to be able to talk about God in our classrooms and incorporate biblical teaching into our lessons. It explains to the next generation who God is, why the world is the way it is, how it all makes sense and points to our Creator’s mighty handiwork. All in all, we are equipping students with the tools of evangelism and the steadfastness needed to maintain their faith during our faithless times.

What would you tell families to encourage them to send their children to TCS?

It is crucial that a family chooses to immerse their children in Christianity in every way possible because our secular world is very attractive. Timothy Christian gives students the tools they need to rise up and be strong and courageous against tyranny, temptation, and all of the other barbs sent to set human beings off the track of righteousness. One will not regret any time spent at Timothy Christian School!
