Timothy Christian School is proud to recognize two members of the Class of 2026, Nathan Kelly and Mariano Grino, who each earned the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in Scouting America.
Earning the Eagle Scout rank represents years of dedication, perseverance, leadership, and service. Along the journey, Scouts develop valuable life skills, serve in leadership roles within their troops, and complete a significant service project that benefits a school, church, or community organization. Only about 6% of Scouts earn this prestigious honor, making the accomplishment a testament to both character and commitment.
Nathan Kelly
Nathan Kelly, a member of Troop 84 in Somerville, earned the rank of Eagle Scout on January 14, 2026. His Eagle Scout project focused on creating a permanent outdoor gathering space at Evangel Chapel in Bridgewater where students and church members could build relationships and enjoy fellowship together.
Nathan planned, organized, and led a team of volunteers to construct a fire pit area for the church’s youth ministry. The project involved excavating an 11-foot circular site, installing landscape liners, weed blocker, and gravel, and building and staining three wooden benches to provide seating for youth and church members.
In total, the project required approximately 191 hours of work and has already become a place where youth group members and adults gather for fellowship, conversation, and community.
By coordinating volunteers, managing construction, and overseeing every phase of the project, Nathan demonstrated the leadership, organization, and servant-hearted mindset that exemplify the values of Eagle Scouts. His work leaves a lasting resource that will serve the church for years to come.
This fall, Nathan will attend Tennessee Technological University, where he plans to continue developing his talent for building as he studies Mechanical Engineering.
Mariano Grino
Mariano Grino, a member of Troop 68 in Union, officially earned the rank of Eagle Scout on February 11, 2026. Throughout his Scouting journey, Mariano served in several leadership roles, including assistant patrol leader, scribe, quartermaster, and instructor. He was also recognized as Troop 68’s Scout of the Month in July 2025 and is a member of the Order of the Arrow, Scouting’s national honor society.
For his Eagle Scout service project, Mariano designed and built a movable raised garden bed for the special education program at Burnet Middle School. Complete with wheels for mobility and a trellis to support climbing plants, the garden bed was created to make gardening more accessible while providing students with meaningful, hands-on learning experiences.
The project held special meaning for Mariano. His younger sister, Ariana, who has Down syndrome, attends the school’s special education program and enjoys gardening. Inspired by a need identified during a visit to the school, Mariano chose to create a project that would leave a lasting impact on students with special needs while honoring someone close to his heart.
Mariano’s commitment to service and leadership was recognized by local and state officials during his Eagle Court of Honor. Now that he has graduated from Timothy Christian School, he will attend the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) to study Civil Engineering, where he hopes to continue designing solutions that improve the lives of others.
