At Timothy Christian School, storytelling continues to be one of the most powerful ways we highlight the people, faith, and culture that make our community unique. This year, our high school podcast, Tiger’s Talk, continued to grow, producing new episodes that spotlight student life, counseling, diversity, and the heart of a Christ-centered education.

We are also excited to introduce a brand-new middle school podcast experience, Studio 8, giving 8th grade students a creative platform to share their voices, ideas, and perspectives.

Together, these two programs reflect the heart of TCS: students and staff learning, leading, and growing in faith together.

In Episode 5 of Tiger’s Talk, we step into the world of middle school at TCS with Middle School Bible teacher Mr. Dorrel Covington and 6th grade English & Social Studies teacher Miss Hope Edwards. Joined by Dean Rodriguez and senior co-host Julia McInerney, the conversation explores what makes the middle school years such a formative and meaningful stage in a student’s journey.

The episode highlights how middle school students are not only growing academically, but also spiritually, socially, and emotionally. Teachers share how they intentionally help students connect faith to learning, making Scripture relevant and understandable in everyday life.

From classroom engagement to student creativity, the discussion emphasizes how middle schoolers bring energy, curiosity, and authenticity to the TCS community. As Miss Edwards shared, students are “becoming who God has made them to be,” and teachers are honored to walk alongside them in that process.

Episode 6 takes a deeper look into the TCS high school experience through a conversation with Mrs. Natasha Jayawardene, High School English teacher, and Mr. Fabian Buenano, High School Math teacher.

Joined by Dean Rodriguez and senior co-host Julia McInerney, the episode explores identity, pressure, and growth during the high school years. Teachers reflect on how students are navigating self-discovery while preparing for life beyond TCS, emphasizing the importance of grounding identity in Christ.

A central theme of the discussion is the idea of foundation. Whether in academics, relationships, or personal identity, the conversation highlights that a strong foundation in faith shapes resilience and purpose. Scripture such as Matthew 6:33 and Romans 12:2 is referenced as guiding truth for students and educators alike.

The episode also celebrates the richness of diversity within the TCS community. Both teachers share how their global backgrounds shape their teaching perspectives and deepen their appreciation for Christ-centered education. From literature to mathematics, they emphasize how every subject can be taught through a biblical lens that connects learning to God’s design.

Student voice is also highlighted, as the conversation points to spiritual leadership emerging within the student body through Bible studies, discussions, and peer encouragement. The episode ultimately paints a picture of a high school community that is academically strong, spiritually grounded, and culturally rich.

The episode highlights how counseling at TCS is rooted in faith, with Scripture and prayer guiding everyday conversations with students.

Topics include:

  • Managing anxiety and overthinking

  • Friendship and relationship challenges
  • Supporting students through life transitions
  • Partnering with families for student growth

At the core of the conversation is a simple yet powerful truth that every student at TCS is known, valued, and cared for.

Studio 8: A New Voice for Middle School Students

This year also marks an exciting milestone with the launch of Studio 8, the first-ever 8th grade podcast at Timothy Christian School.

Middle School English teacher Miss Hope Edwards and Bible teacher Mr. Dorrel Covington serve as advisors and producers of the program, guiding students as they plan, record, and produce their own episodes.

As Mr. Covington shared:

When Miss Edwards and I started the podcast class, our main goal was to give the 8th grade students a platform to express themselves. We wanted them to have the opportunity to talk about the things they enjoy, share their interests, and discuss topics that matter to them. It was a lot of fun watching the students develop their ideas, collaborate with one another, and bring their conversations to life on camera. While our role was to guide and support them throughout the process, the students were ultimately the driving force for creating and producing our episodes. It was amazing to see them grow in confidence, creativity, and communication skills while having fun sharing their unique perspectives. After such an amazing year, we can’t wait to see what next year’s students will create and share through the podcast class!

Studio 8 has quickly become a space where students take ownership of their creativity, build communication skills, and explore storytelling in meaningful and engaging ways.

Studio 8 Season 1 Highlights

Across nine episodes, Studio 8 students explored a wide range of topics that reflect the heart of middle school life:

Each episode highlights student voice, creativity, and the everyday experiences that shape life at TCS.

A Unified Vision for Student Voice at TCS

From high school discussions on emotional and spiritual support in Tiger’s Talk, to middle school interviews and creative storytelling in Studio 8, both programs reflect the same mission: giving students a platform to share their voices in meaningful, authentic, and Christ-centered ways. At Timothy, faith is not only taught, but lived out in every classroom, conversation, and creative project.

As we celebrate this year’s podcast growth, we look forward to continuing to build spaces where students can speak, create, and lead across all divisions of Timothy Christian School.
