One of the hallmarks of the Timothy Christian School experience is the senior class missions trip to the Dominican Republic. This year marked the 30th Anniversary of our seniors serving others in the DR!

In case you missed it on our social media pages, here is the full recap of each day of this year’s Dominican Republic missions trip from the perspective of our seniors themselves!

Day 1 of the senior DR missions trip!!! We arrived at the market to buy souvenirs for family and friends. Afterwards we went to the plaza to hand out tracts and worship at the park.

We can’t wait to see what the Lord will do through us this week. Please keep us in your prayers.

Day 2: Today, we Seniors went to have church on the beach and spend some time with God alone. Afterwards, we had an opportunity to go to the Dominican American school to help the kids practice their English. Here we had the chance to share our faith and form new friendships. We enjoyed embracing their culture such as learning how to dance bachata and merengue  We got to end the day with ice cream at Bon and sang happy birthday to Luke!

Day 3! Today we went to Handfuls of Hope school to bond with the children from the kids’ club. There was face painting, nail painting and recreational sports. We enjoyed getting to talk to the kids while doing all this. We got the chance to eat together at the school and share with one another. Afterwards, the senior girls spent time with the girls’ club where we shared some testimonies and painted hats with them. At that same time, the boys stayed at HOH to spread gravel around the basketball court. Finally, we ended our day with devotions and recreation. Can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for the rest of this trip!

Day 4: Yesterday we started off our day with church at Handfuls of Hope. We learned how the Lord should lead our lives, not our peers. We then went to the pediatric hospital where we had the opportunity to share God’s love, pray with them, and sing songs. Lastly, we visited the girls’ orphanage where we got to bond with many of the girls and share the joy of the Lord with them .

Day 5! Today we woke up bright and early and headed to a village church in Guamate to meet Jair Munoz to paint and spread gravel in the courtyard. We met Anna Maria and her son, Edwin, who gave a testimony about God’s faithfulness working through Timothy supporting her for 30 years! We had fun playing baseball even though the Dominican’s got their revenge after last nights loss in the world baseball classic. Today they beat the Americans (TCS) 6-3.

Day 6: We started our day off with a relaxing day at the beach and then went back to the villa to hang out with children with disabilities. We had such a fun time presenting our program, painting their faces and nails and making balloon animals for them. Our class is growing together day by day in unity and spiritually, as we’re being challenged in God’s Word!

Last Day in the Dominican Republic!!

Today was a super busy and spiritually filling day. We started off by going to HOH and doing our program there for a new group of kids. Then we went to a nearby village and handed out bags of food. After lunch back at HOH, we did another program. We then went to a second village where we did our program in a local church, passed out more food and painted two houses in the village.

We ended our day with a time of sharing about what the Lord accomplished in our hearts throughout the week.

Our seniors had an amazing week of ministry, with several chaperones noting the way the class worked together cohesively despite having several of their meetings canceled due to the snow. We praise God for no sickness, injuries, or travel delays!

Victoria Fajardo shared a story with us of how she was touched at the children’s hospital.

I had the opportunity to go into a room where all of the kids who were there had burns and there was a 12-year-old boy there who had been electrocuted twice. The nurses and doctors said that it was a miracle that he was alive. His arm was cut off and his flesh was open; he had a white wrap all around him, but I saw the Lord in him. I saw the joy of the Lord on his face because when I entered the room, he had a bright smile that was so big and in the middle of his situation he had hope and he was happy. I was blowing bubbles with him and doing coloring pages, and it was so beautiful. It reminded me of the verse, “Be still and know that I am God.” God still has a purpose and a plan for him. That really touched me.

The seniors also shared with the middle schoolers and high schoolers in chapel on March 25th. They performed their mimeskit, puppets, kids’ ministry songs, and class song, for their peers and Lacey, Elisha, Julia, and Aaron D. shared their testimonies of what they learned and experienced. Check out the linked videos to see their performances and testimonies!

We are so proud of our seniors and of the work the Lord did in and through them during this incredible week of ministry!
