We are excited to welcome our new middle school and high school history teacher Lindsey Fererri. Miss Ferreri teaches Current Events, Civics, World Cultures and Geography, Economics, and Technical Theatre. She graduated from Regent University with a bachelor’s degree in history and social science with a concentration in Secondary Education. Miss Ferreri is also the advisor for our new business club DECA. As stated on their website, DECA’s mission is to “prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.” Miss Ferreri took the students on a field trip to their first competition at Kean University on January 13th. It was an educational experience for the students, and we are looking forward to seeing how they gain new skills and develop their abilities in this club! Let’s hear more from Miss Ferreri about why she loves being a teacher here at TCS!

What/Who inspired you to take up teaching?

Teaching has always felt personal to me because my mom is an incredible educator. I grew up seeing the difference she made in her students’ lives, and that really stuck with me. In high school, I got involved in things like Big Brothers Big Sisters, HRC, and teaching Sunday school. Those experiences confirmed for me that I loved mentoring students, building relationships, and helping them grow not just academically, but spiritually too.

Why did you choose to teach at TCS?

I really wanted to be in a school where my faith and my teaching could go together naturally. At TCS, I don’t feel like I have to separate who I am from what I do. I love that we can openly talk about faith, pray with our students, and point them back to Christ in both big and small moments throughout the day. It was important to me to be in a place that values strong academics but also cares deeply about students’ hearts and character. Being able to walk alongside families and support students in their spiritual growth as well as their learning is something that makes teaching here feel especially meaningful.

What do you love most about TCS?

The community is what stands out to me the most. There’s a genuine sense that people care about each other here. The administration is supportive, the teachers are encouraging and collaborative, and the students bring so much joy and personality into the building each day. I also love the partnership with families. It really feels like we’re all on the same team, working together to help each child grow and succeed. That kind of support system makes a huge difference, not just for students, but for teachers too.

What is one word that best describes the school? Why?

A word that best describes TCS is intentional. Nothing is done here by accident. The way teachers pour into their students, the way staff members support one another, and the way faith is part of everyday life all show how much care goes into this school.

How are faith and learning integrated at TCS?

Faith is part of everyday life in the classroom. We pray together, have open conversations about what the Bible teaches, and encourage students to think about how their faith connects to what they’re learning. Whether we’re studying history, literature, or science, there are opportunities to talk about truth, character, and God’s design.

In what ways are you preparing students for life beyond TCS?

I try to keep in mind every day that I’m not just teaching lessons, I’m helping shape the kind of people my students are becoming. Of course, I want them to leave with strong academic skills and confidence in their abilities, but I care just as much about their character and their faith.

I want my students to understand that their lives have purpose and that the way they treat others, the choices they make, and the values they hold really matter. We talk about responsibility, kindness, and trusting God as they face challenges. My hope is that when they leave TCS, they feel prepared to step into the world and live in a way that honors Christ.

What would you tell families to encourage them to send their children to TCS?

I would tell families that TCS is a place where their child will truly be known and cared for. Students aren’t just another face in the crowd. The teachers take time to build relationships and understand each child’s strengths, challenges, and personality.

TCS is also a place where faith is part of daily life, not just something added on. Families can feel confident that their children are being encouraged to grow academically while also being guided in their walk with Christ.

Anything else you would like to share about your experience at TCS thus far?

My experience at TCS has been such a blessing. I feel supported as a teacher and encouraged in my faith at the same time. It’s refreshing to work in a place where prayer is normal, where colleagues uplift one another, and where the focus is on helping students grow.
