Leslie graduated from Timothy Christian School in 2007. After graduation she received her Associates Degree in Baking and Pastry from the Culinary Institute of America. She has worked at Carlos Bakery (from the TLC show Cake Boss) in Hoboken and Jersey City and at The Dessert Ladies in Stirling. She returned to Timothy to be with us on staff in 2021 and has been instrumental to our lunchroom staff as a Food Prep Assistant.

Leslie is not only alumni and staff, but she has been a TCS parent for the past 3 years! She and her husband John have two children, one in 2nd grade and another who started in K4 this year. This year is extra special for the Miller family because Mr. Miller (12th grade Bible teacher), Mrs. Miller (school nurse), Mrs. Jessie (Miller) Jankowsky (5th grade teacher) and all of the grandchildren are now here at Timothy Christian School. Let’s hear from Leslie why it is important for her and her family to continue to be a part of Timothy Christian School.

Describe one of your favorite memories at TCS.

I always enjoyed Riot Night, and mission trips to Belize, the Dominican Republic, and Jamaica stand out as special memories.

From your own experience, why do you believe it was important for you to attend TCS?

Attending Timothy helped me to navigate the world once I graduated.

Why did you choose to work at TCS?

Working at Timothy logistically enables me to send my kids to school there; it promotes a work/life balance for me, and it enables me to be part of a team who fosters the next generation for Christ.

What do you love most about TCS?

As a parent, what I love most about Timothy is the biblical foundation that is being laid for my children in a school context, which complements our home life.

What is one word that best describes the school?

Community. The TCS community has a unity of purpose for eternity.

Why did you choose TCS for your children?

We chose to send our children to Timothy because we wanted them to be in a learning environment which would nurture their whole person and encourage their spiritual growth.

In what ways have you seen your children grow and develop as a result of their experience at TCS?

This past summer my son asked Jesus into his heart. Both my children ask spiritual questions. They’re just 4 and 7 but they understand so much. They talk about God at home, and what they’ve learned at school. Last year my son said to my daughter, “And did you know that God doesn’t have favorites? He loves us all the same.” To which my daughter questioned, “ How do you know?” My son answered, “Because my teacher told me!”  My son also likes to pray for his classmates by name at home, as they do in class.

How are faith and learning integrated at TCS?

Every school subject points back to God and at Timothy the teachers are enabled to show their students how.

How is TCS preparing your children for college and beyond?

My children are still young but they are learning fundamentals of how to treat others with love and respect. They are offered many enrichment opportunities through their regular curricula, along with clubs after school.

What would you tell families to encourage them to send their children to TCS?

At Timothy I feel my children are loved and cared for and important to those who are in charge of them. My kids love being at school. They love their teachers and their classmates; it feels like an extended family.
