Meet the Collins family! Quinnie has been a TCS parent for the last year with a daughter who graduated kindergarten this June. We sat down with her to share her experience with Timothy. Let’s hear from Quinnie how she felt the warmth of the TCS community this year.

Why did you choose TCS for your child?

My choice really resonated with my desire for my daughter to be in a Christian school, a school built around a personal relationship with God. I read the curriculum for TCS and saw that the students memorize Bible verses, and I thought if she knows the Word that’s a safe place for her to start. I wanted her to be here because the curriculum aligns with my desire for her to experience God’s Word and I know that through her knowing God’s Word she’s going to have a relationship with God.

What do you love most about TCS?

One of the things that I love most about TCS is that it is a community of faith. When I’m dropping off my daughter in the morning the response that I always get is a smile and Mrs. Dyer gives me a hug and that goes a long way. I think this community is special, the teachers, the staff, and the parents. In the morning people are smiling dropping their kids off and saying, “How are you?” and “God bless you.” Those little words, that feeling of warmth that stays with you, the hug, the conversation at the door – that’s what I love about TCS.

What is one word that best describes the school? Why?

One word that would describe the school is “bonding.” There is a strong bond within the community. Some of the parents or staff that I talk with have gone to school here since kindergarten or their parents have met their significant other here and I think that’s amazing. I would say that the word that best describes the school is bonding because of the nature of the community of the school where everyone has a story whether they are an alum, or met their significant other here, or gave their life to God.

In what ways have you seen your child grow and develop as a result of their experience at TCS?

My daughter is always reminding me to go to church and reminding me about helping her memorize her weekly Bible verse. What I love the most about the memorization of the verses is how her teacher encourages her to embed what she learns into everyday life. I remember once she was with a friend, and I heard them upstairs and she was playing a Christian song and singing about Jesus. It’s evident to see that she’s growing not just academically but growing in the love of God.

How is TCS preparing your child for college and beyond?

Going back to the curriculum, I love that it’s so hands on and love how her kindergarten teacher approached learning this year, allowing the students to engage. As the world evolves today, we need thinkers, we need problem solvers, and TCS is building that into their curriculum. My daughter is thinking through problems and asking questions and she’s going to be able to use those skills throughout her life.

What would you tell another parent to encourage them to consider enrolling their child at TCS?

TCS resonates with stories. Everyone has a story and it’s through sharing those stories that the bonding of a community takes place. With the diverse backgrounds and identities that we all come from, TCS really encourages everyone to bring their story. It doesn’t matter what your story is or where your start is, coming here you are able to belong and have a community of Christians who will support you in love and in hope.
