As the school year winds down, we are filled with gratitude for the incredible student-led chapels that took place this spring at Timothy Christian School. From March through May, our students stepped up to not only lead worship and share Scripture, but also to speak from their hearts, encourage their peers, and demonstrate what it means to live boldly for Christ.
Senior Chapel: Dominican Republic Testimonies
Our seniors brought joy and energy as they shared a taste of their recent mission trip to the Dominican Republic. They re-enacted their skit, puppet show, mime, and children’s worship songs, offering our middle and high school students a glimpse of the ministry they were part of in the DR. Gavin and Jack shared heartfelt testimonies about how the trip impacted their faith. The seniors closed by singing their class song together marking a beautiful and emotional final chapel as a class.
Junior Chapel: Purpose
The junior class kicked off the season with a chapel centered on the theme of purpose, anchored by Psalm 138:8, “The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever.” Students led worship to start, and then Christabel and Nicky gave moving testimonies about discovering God’s purpose in their lives. Dara followed with a powerful original poem that moved hearts. The juniors closed with worship and prayer, reminding everyone that we were not created by accident, but that God has a purpose for each of us.
Sophomore Chapel: Eternal Flame
The sophomore class led a meaningful chapel focused on the theme of “eternal flame.”
GloriaMia spoke about following God’s “eternal flame”, love. She wanted to wake her classmates up to not indulging in self-glorifying love based in lust and desire. She encouraged everyone to love others even when it’s hard to and pray for those we struggle to love.
Next, Rhaiyna shared her journey to TCS and the trials she faced in that journey. Isaiah 51:7-8 brought her help when she was at an all-time low in her life. She explained that God can put us in a season of waiting just as He sees fit and it may be for a bigger purpose and a happier ending. Finding a love so permanent and unconditional can only be found in God. She challenged the students to stop looking for worldly love and fleeting things.
Kyler and Mark ran a Bible trivia game, and the seniors won! At the end of chapel, the class sang one more time and Nathan said a closing prayer.
Freshman Chapel: Change
The freshman class wrapped up our season of student-led chapels with a theme that resonates with many: Change. They kicked off with a “Song or Psalm” game, then went into a time of worship where the 9th grade members of the Praise Band led in two songs.
Alayna spoke first and shared her testimony of how at one point she felt she needed to change for others. “When you live to please people, you will always feel empty,” she said. She shared Galatians 1:10 and stated that true change starts and ends with God. At the end of her talk she asked the students the questions, “When do you find yourself changing for others the most and how do you feel that you can be more like Christ?”
Next Isabella spoke and shared her story of growth through the changes in her life. She said that things inevitably will change but God never changes. She shared Jeremiah 29:11, and said that God has a plan for our lives. “Changes might surprise us, but they don’t surprise God.” She also shared Ecclesiastes 3:1 and encouraged her classmates to seek God through every season and trust God in everything we do.
The freshmen ended their time with the whole group singing the worship song, “Graves into Gardens.”
Each of these chapels was more than just a gathering, it was a testimony of God’s work in the hearts of our students. We are so proud of the courage, creativity, and faith our students displayed. Thank you to each class for leading so well, for sharing your hearts, and for pointing your peers to Christ!
