March 2nd marks the birthday of the beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss! In celebration of his literary legacy and the joy of reading, our elementary students participated in a fun-filled Read Across America dress-up week from March 3rd to 7th.

Throughout the week, students engaged in creative activities and themed dress-up days to bring their favorite characters and stories to life. Parents and staff also had the opportunity to become Mystery Readers, surprising classes by reading a book during the school day.

A Week of Literary Fun

  • Monday, March 3rd – Dr. Seuss Day! Students showed their Seuss spirit by dressing up as characters from The Cat in the Hat, Horton Hears a Who!, The Lorax, and more.
  • Tuesday, March 4th – Book Character Day: Students arrived at school dressed as their favorite characters from any book, making the hallways a lively display of literature.
  • Wednesday, March 5th – Crazy Sock Day: Crazy and mismatched socks added a splash of color and fun while students continued their learning in uniform.
  • Thursday, March 6th – Crazy Hair/Hat Day: From wild hairdos to funky hats, students showed off their creativity!
  • Friday, March 7th – Pajama Day: Cozy pajamas set the tone for a relaxing day dedicated to reading, as students participated in Drop Everything and Read (D.E.A.R.) time.

A Special Author Visit

As part of the literary celebration, we welcomed Christian author Laura Sassi to chapel on March 12th. She shared her inspiring journey of faith and writing, encouraging young readers and aspiring writers to follow their dreams.

Read Across America Week was a fantastic success, fostering a love of reading and creativity in our students. We look forward to more opportunities to celebrate literature and learning in the future!
