A longstanding high school tradition at Timothy Christian School is a spirit week culminating in a night of games and activities called Riot Night. While Timothy celebrates its 75th year, Riot Night celebrates its 33rd year at TCS.

Each year Student Council chooses the theme for each dress down day. The students are always very creative in how they dress for each day. Monday was Nerd Day and “Anything but a Backpack Day” where they had to bring to school a different object to carry their belongings in. Suitcases, laundry baskets, and crates were seen around school as students used these items to carry their books. Some out-of-the-box things brought in were a baby car seat, stroller, a dresser drawer, and a store shopping cart. During recess on Monday the students played a cup game where they had to use partners to stack cups. The seniors kicked off the week with an initial win!

Tuesday was Twin/Triplet Day where the kids had to pick one or two people in their grade to match clothes with. Some took it a step further by wearing matching costumes. Tuesday’s game was during 3rd block where they had a mystery eating contest. Four students from each grade had to choose from eight mystery items to eat. Dara Gonzalez, Preston Marfo, Valeria Gomez, Aaron da Costa brought the junior team to victory for this game.

On Wednesday the students dressed as different characters. Some individual and group costumes included Steve Harvey, Darth Vader, Princess Leia and a Jedi, The Cheetah Girls, Spiderman, Bruno Mars, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, football and basketball players, and various more book, tv, and movie characters.

After lunch, the students participated in the Egg Relay where each team member needed to carry an egg on a spoon from one side of the field to the other without dropping their egg. The freshman won this game. Next, they held the Egg Toss where students tossed their egg back and forth and the pair that threw their egg the farthest without it breaking won. Sophomore girls Angelina and Audrey and junior boys John and Sam won for their classes.

Thursday was Decade’s Day and outfits from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s were seen across campus. A couple of the students took the day in a different direction and came dressed in an outfit not only from a different decade, but also from a different century. One dressed as a Revolutionary War general from the 1770s and the other as a butler from the 1830s.

Right before lunch the students gathered in the gym to play Ms. McKay’s mystery game. This year she devised a game called “Duck, Duck, Go” where the students had to transport a small rubber duck across the gym floor by sliding on air mattresses. Chaos ensued as students plopped on mattresses and slid from one side of the gym to the other. Juniors took this win with the seniors coming in a close second.

Friday was a busy day as the students helped with “Stuff the Truck” in the morning and played two games in the afternoon. They sported their class t-shirts as they helped load all the donated non-perishable goods into the Hope Truck sent by the My Neighbor’s Pantry ministry at Zarephath Christian Church. The junior class enlisted the help of their church communities to bring in the most items.

Seniors won both the Table Surf and Tiger Relay games in the afternoon, bringing up their excitement as they went into the evening activities.

This year’s class themes were Despicable Me (freshmen), Batman (sophomores), Rio (juniors), Teen Beach Movie (seniors). Students played classic games like Refrigerator Box, Blind Volleyball, and Bat Spin. Throughout the night each class performed their cheer as the judges watched and took notes. Here are the winners of the night:

T-shirt: Seniors, Juniors, Freshmen, Sophomores

Banner: Juniors, Seniors, Freshmen, Sophomores

Cheer: Juniors, Seniors, Sophomores, Freshmen

Overall, the juniors made Riot Night history, taking home the win over the seniors. It was a fun night for all, especially for the juniors, as their determination and class unity brought them closer together. We can’t wait to see if the class of 2026 can hold their winning title against the juniors at Riot Night next year!
