Mr. and Mrs. McInerney are thankful for all the dads and sons who took time out of their weekend to come to TCS on Saturday, October 12th for the Elementary Father-Son event.

During the day, Mr. McInerney taught the fathers and sons, three main things:

1. Teach your son to love the Lord with all their heart

2. The importance of teaching your son a trade

3. Teach your son to be able to defend themselves and their family (self-defense)

Mr. Mac had the boys and their dads do an art project together with their hands giving a fist bump. The boys and their dads did a great job doing this on a canvas together.

They also shared 10 things with each other and answered questions like: What are you most proud of? What is something that you are afraid of? What do you hope to accomplish in life? What has made you most successful? What is the best decision you have ever made in your life?

Providing a safe place for dads to bond with their boys is so important.

After lunch the boys did self-defense outside and then came back inside to create a prayer request cube out of wood. Using this the dad can pray for 6 things for his son, and his son can pray for him.

Mrs. McInerney noted that it was a great day, “We were so blessed by all the dads who invested in quality time with their sons. It was beautiful to see them talking together, praying for one another, encouraging each other, crafting and practicing self-defense together. My heart was bursting with joy hearing them talk about the Lord together and reading from God’s word.”

Below is a recap of what Mr. Mac shared:

The 3 great gifts dads can give their sons:

1. Read the bible first thing in the morning (and let them see you).

“In the morning, Lord, I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.”

Psalm 5:3

2. Love and serve his mom well.

“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ loved the church, and gave Himself up for her…”

Ephesians 5:25

3. Be quick to ask for forgiveness.

Ephesians 4:32
