Our Summer Quest camps have expanded this year! This summer we have offered our regular Little Explorers camp for our elementary students, Adventurers camp for our middle schoolers, plus two weeks of Tigers Basketball camp and one week of Tigers Soccer camp.

We kicked off the summer in June with the first week of Tigers Basketball camp where Coach Buenano and players from the team led the students in drills and games to improve their skills! This year they will hold a second week in August for campers to continue developing their athletic abilities.

We were able to have Paul Mayorga Quesada, a professional soccer player come to TCS from Costa Rica. Coach Mayorga participated in World Cups for the Costa Rica national team and was also a Concacaf Champion with Saprissa (Costa Rican soccer club) among other achievements. He is now a professional soccer coach and coached the women’s soccer team in the national championship in Costa Rica. Coach Mayorga is also the grandfather of two of our TCS students, Samuel and David Arias! Our soccer campers ran, dribbled, and scored under the direction of Coach Mayorga.

Our elementary school Little Explorers camp is growing in their programing! This year’s theme is Barnyard Bonanza. The students have had multiple experiences with live animals throughout the summer. They are going on multiple farm field trips where they will have the opportunity to feed and pet animals like goats, chickens, and cows! One of the highlights already was having Happy Trails Petting Zoo come to school during Horse Week. They brought with them bunnies, goats, ducks, chickens and two ponies for the campers to ride! The farm fun continues in August when the campers will be visiting a dairy farm to see how cheese is made! The camp will also have a visit from a local author, Judy Medina, who will read her book Farm Family Friends and do an activity!

Our middle school camp numbers have grown since last year. This year they have gone on field trips to The Philadelphia Zoo, Treetop Adventure Course, Hurricane Harbor, and The Franklin Institute. Each week they enjoy different themes such as cooking, game design, escape room, games, and more! Mr. Van Ness, the director of our Adventurers camp has seen the growth in the program since last year. “The program itself is growing pretty significantly as we expand the different types of activities that we’re doing. We’ve seen an increase in the number of students who have been coming to Summer Quest throughout the summer and we expect to see an increase next year as well, as we continue to advertise the program and add new and exciting activities!”

We’re excited that our summer programming is expanding for our students and the surrounding community and look forward to seeing even more growth next year!
