Why did you choose TCS for your child?
After coming to the realization that the public school system was no longer the route we wanted to go in for our daughter’s education, we began to search for reputable Christian private schools in Central, NJ and TCS quickly ran to the top of our list after the first visit. We were looking for a faith-based school that would partner with us to reinforce the Christian values we teach at home while also providing a strong academic program. We also knew that our child performed better when she received more one-on-one attention in smaller classroom settings and wanted a school that offered a full athletics program. TCS checked every box and so much more. This school is truly an answer to our prayers and now we are thrilled to have our second child attending as well!
What do you love most about TCS?
There are so many things we love about TCS! Some immediate things that come to mind is the drive, passion, and dedication each teacher demonstrates in the subject they teach. I’m so thankful for the Parent Teacher Fellowship Group (like the PTA in the public-school setting) and all they do throughout the school year to serve our students and staff with continual prayer and amazing school spirited events. I love the tight knit community among the staff and families, there’s a real sense of partnership when it comes to educating and discipling our children. It’s also wonderful that our children have so many programs to get involved in, from band, choir, theater/drama, debate, sports, and so much more!
What is one word that best describes the school? Why?
The word that I think best describes TCS is community. There is a real sense of family, fellowship, and partnership that is shared amongst students, staff, and parents. We are equally invested in our children and how they grow spiritually, academically, and eventually mature into balanced young adults who are able to critically think and navigate their entry into adulthood. I like to believe that we all look out for each other’s children and the friendships that are developed between students, parents, and faculty is not something you will find in a public-school setting. TCS is truly a unique place and so much more than just a school, we have gained a family!
In what ways have you seen your child grow and develop as a result of their experience at TCS?
In the three years our daughter has been attending TCS we’ve seen her mature in so many areas of her life. She has flourished mentally, academically, and spiritually! As a parent it’s truly an answer to prayer to see our child thriving and growing into a confident young adult. It truly blesses my heart to see how she has grown in leaps and bounds because of TCS’s efforts in weekly chapel service, discipleship groups, and prayer in the classroom.
How is TCS preparing your children for college and beyond?
One of the biggest surprises that came with moving our children from the public school system to TCS was the strength of their academic curriculum and depth of experience within the faculty, many of whom are subject matter experts in the courses they teach. One of my children at TCS happens to be a senior this year and she regularly says with confidence that TCS has prepared her for college in ways that go far beyond just academics. While the curriculum challenges our students in ways that we know will best prepare them for college and beyond, the teachers at TCS don’t shy away from tough topics and they provide the space for them to think critically as they form their world view from a Christian perspective. The project acceleration program has also allowed our senior to take college accredited courses throughout her high school tenure and is setting her up for success at the next level. Additionally, TCS’s athletics program has pushed my daughter to strive, work hard for results, and to sacrifice for others. I will close by just saying that my daughter walked into TCS a young teenager with lots of questions and uncertain if this experience would be for her. She is leaving a confident young lady, and though she will most certainly face new challenges after high school, she is prepared to face them, and a huge reason why will be from the many academic and life lessons learned at TCS!
What would you tell another parent to encourage them to consider enrolling their child at TCS?
Most parents have the same questions and concerns (change of scenery, tuition, range of academic/athletic offerings) when considering sending their child to private school. We had many of those same questions, however from the moment we contacted TCS to inquire about registering we were met with caring and professional staff members who were able to answer all of our questions and connect us with other TCS families. Becoming a part of the TCS family and investing in our child’s future has been one of the best decisions we have made for our family!
