Our kindergarteners, 8th graders, and 12th graders all graduated this June. On the morning of Wednesday, June 14, the two kindergarten classes combined for their ceremony in the chapel. They sang “The B-I-B-L-E,” “Jesus Loves Me,” “Hello to all the Children of the World,” and “1st Grade” and following a Timothy tradition, recited Psalm 23. That same afternoon we held our 8th grade graduation which featured Valedictorian JJ Stuhl, Salutatorian Abby Koyongian, and Pastor Dickerson, alumni parent and current grandparent, who gave a charge to all the graduates.
Friday, June 16th our high school graduation took place. This year’s Valedictorian was James Thompson. He started TCS in 2nd grade and has been involved in many activities at TCS such as Debate, NHS, Band, and the Chick-fil-a Leader Academy. This year he was a part of our new STEM Scholar’s Program where he completed an internship at JFK University Medical Center. He will be heading to Princeton University in the fall to major in Neuroscience and minor in Applied and Computational Mathematics.
Mike Luciano, a graduate from the Class of 1999, spoke. He shared from 2 Timothy 4:7 and encouraged the students to fight the good fight, finish the race, and keep the faith just as Paul said he had done.
Ishan Shrestha received the TCS Wendy Gall Computer Science Award, a $5,000 scholarship generously donated by Sara Chipps (TCS Class of 1999) and Ian Ownbey. The Thrivent Award was given to Gianna Osterberg by William Leach who stated that Gianna has done an outstanding job fitting in and making a positive impact on her class and has a servant’s heart, using her musical ability on the guitar to lead the praise band in chapel and on the DR missions trip. Many seniors have also received scholarships to the schools of their choice. Halla Lamptey received a full tuition scholarship to The College of New Jersey where she will attend in the fall.
We will miss the notable positive impact our seniors have made on our school community. The play would not have been a success this year without seniors Immanuel Guardado, Cindy Shao, and Samantha Ulrich, who all did a wonderful job making the story of “Clue” come to life. The band and choir will miss their 5 seniors Jonathan Koshy, Joel Koyongian, Cindy Shao, James Thompson, and Matthew Wright. This year our Volleyball team became Blue Division champions for the first time in school history, led by seniors Ava Acevedo, Halla Lamptey, Hailee Medina, Hannah McNulty, Janell Moore, Gianna Osterberg, Andrea Samson, and Zion Williams. We had 6 seniors named GMC All Division athletes, as well as Joshua Francis and Hailee Medina, our Salutatorian, receiving the GMC Scholar Athlete award.
As the graduations closed out our 2022-2023 schoolyear, we are excited for our Kindergarteners to move up to first grade, our 8th graders to enter high school, and our seniors to begin their journey beyond the doors of Timothy Christian School!
