On October 19, Timothy Christian School pre-K through sixth grade parents had the opportunity to fellowship with one another and hear from local Christian Author, Laura Sassi. This special parent night, hosted by elementary principal, Mrs. McInerney, was a blessing to all who attended.
At a young age, Laura Sassi fell in love with writing stories. She is now the author of several children’s picture books. Her book Love is Kind quickly became a TCS favorite as she read it aloud to our elementary students in chapel last spring. Her first Bible story picture book, The Tender Heart Bible and The Tender Heart Prayer Book will be released in February 2023.
Laura shared her testimony and ways to be intentional and practical in sharing Jesus with our children. She encouraged parents with the following five tips:
- Feed yourself first with God’s Word
- Feed your kids God’s Word
- Share your own faith stories
- Be open to God’s prompting – then seize the moment.
- We are planting the seeds… but God is the master gardener.
Timothy parents were blessed to be able to ask questions and interact with Laura one on one. Mrs. Sassi will be returning to visit our elementary students in Chapel in December.
Rajie Sintha, one of our fourth grade moms shared, “Though I signed up, I was hesitant to attend the event for I was swamped in juggling all the chores and activities as a parent for that evening but I felt very blessed by the session. I got to listen as to how parents can organize our thought process with practical steps and develop a strategy based on the age of our children to engage and foster conversations with our kids to grow them in their faith. I am looking forward to her chapel visit with the kids in December. I encourage other parents to seize the opportunity!”
