Why did you choose TCS for your child?
I wanted my daughter to have an education that was biblical and based on God’s truth. Training her up in the Lord was my number one priority as a mom and I knew how influential education could be in her development, not only academically but morally as well. My husband wanted her in a safe environment with opportunity and strong academics.
What do you love most about TCS?
I love that TCS teaches each subject based on the inerrant word of God backing it with science, historical evidence and philosophical reasoning. True education explores the depth of topics to reveal the fingerprint, intentional design and involvement of the Creator within each area of study. This provides children with facts and evidence to understand they are not here by random chance, but purposely designed to be loved, love others, to enjoy and thrive in the incredible world given to them as well as eternal life. Teachers connect with us as parents with the same heartfelt concerns, encouragements and opportunities we have for our daughter. She had a community who loved her, knew her individually, inspired her embrace Christian values and be her very best.
What is one word that best describes the school? Why?
Sacrificial – They have a small budget compared to public schools and do not receive state funding. Yet they do more with one dollar than you can imagine. They are extremely responsible and creative with the funds received from tuition and donations to provide strong academics, fine arts and athletic programs, technology, 21st century learning, opportunities to serve the community, educational and inspirational trips, a beautiful 23-acre campus as well as take care of and show gratitude for their staff and faculty. Each staff and faculty member works at TCS because they believe in Jesus Christ. They see the need to instill sound academics and demonstrate love and biblical values to the next generation. They give up high salaries and time to invest in our children.
In what ways have you seen your child grow and develop as a result of their experience at TCS?
Since first grade when our daughter began at TCS, she was encouraged in her love for God. She was encouraged to use her gifts for the good of others and to honor Him. As she matured through the difficult middle school years, teachers partnered with us through challenging times and joined us in pointing our daughter in the way she should go. When she struggled with a subject, teachers invested time to see her succeed. Throughout high school, she has been challenged academically and has risen to meet that challenge. She has seen challenges of culture presented to her with God’s truth which has strengthened her to make right choices and encourage her peers to do the same. She loves the tight community where everyone knows everyone. The community of her peers is supportive and encouraging.
How is TCS preparing your child for college and beyond?
TCS has provided strong academics and opportunities to grow athletically, spiritually, artistically and intellectually to become an independent thinker and discover her passions. She fell in love with volleyball in 6th grade and thanks to the program at TCS, she received a solid platform that enabled her to continue to develop outside of TCS and compete regionally which has made her visible to college coaches. With the help of a caring and involved Counselor as well as a dedicated art teacher, she discovered a passion for Interior Design and will be studying at Kean University. Though Kean is not a Christian College, we believe TCS has provided a solid foundation academically and has enhanced her relationship with the Lord. As she engages culture, she will see the difference and be able to navigate well. TCS has also taught her the value of serving others, responsibility and accountability which is preparing her for life.
What would you tell another parent to encourage them to consider enrolling their child at TCS?
Your child is going to spend about 16,000 hours being influenced by several people, a philosophy, a world view, a value system and a curriculum. The amount of time they are under the influence of someone or something that may not align with your value system is staggering. It is very hard to navigate that in today’s humanistic, me-centered culture. Although parents and family have a large part in directing a child’s life and development, an education can also influence who and what your child will become. Where your child is educated is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. It may come at a financial sacrifice, but it will pay you back in dividends later in life.
