STEM LOGO300Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (S.T.E.M.) is a fast-growing academic emphasis among schools preparing their students for an exciting and yet unknown future. Timothy Christian School recognizes this and offers S.T.E.M. opportunities early to its students. First grade students began the year by learning to program computers through playing with robots in the classroom.  Using the newest robotic technology, Dash and Dot, and a classroom Ipad, students are able to command a robot’s movements and path. An example of play based learning, this type of classroom activity is exposing children to the vocabulary and patterns that computer programmers use on a daily basis. Visitors are warned to watch their feet when they enter the classroom as 1st grade student are getting better at aiming their robot at a target!
