A special season could be sensed when the TCS girls basketball team claimed the Middlesex County College Summer League Championship. TCS’ scrappy freshmen were maturing into highly skilled contributors about the same time as the juniors were growing into senior leaders. Even though the season outlook seemed to be bright, navigating a 14 game divisional schedule while dealing with school work, out-of-division opponents, holidays, injuries & illness is no easy task. The grind of basketball season in the GMC has a way of wearing teams down.
The exact same grind that wears teams down seemed to only polish up the Lady Tigers this winter. The girls navigated the 14 game divisional schedule unscathed with the final game being the closest, a 6 point victory over 2nd place Dunellen. The final divisional victory secured Timothy Christian’s 4th divisional title in 3 years in the GMC.
The Lady Tigers now take their 17-3 record into the GMC tournament as the 8th seed and the NJSIAA tournament in the final week of February. With 2 championships to their names since August, the TCS girls basketball team is striving to add a few more before March.
