We are excited to offer a Gifted & Talented Program at Timothy Christian School for a third consecutive year!
Principal McInerney shares her excitement for the program, “I wanted to have this program for our students who excel in Math. Our goal is to have these students be stretched further and use their critical thinking skills in a learning environment. Mrs. Kumpf has been the perfect fit for our school. She has worked with students and teachers in Gifted & Talented public schools for over 35 years. Her love for the Lord and her passion for education are contagious.”
Our elementary school first piloted this program three years ago, for fourth graders. This year now includes grades three and four. The students meet weekly with Mrs. Kumpf for 40 minutes and have time for brain teasers and math games.
Here are a few quotes from parents and students about why they love the G&T program:
“My daughter loves the teacher, and she loves learning challenging things because it makes her feel special.” – Mrs. Rodriguez
“My son enjoys the mind teasing games because it allows him to use his brain more and be ready to think and use more math in the future.” – Mrs. Dawkins
“Our son enjoys learning new concepts and he practices them when he’s back from school. G & T days are special because he gets to share new concepts with his family. We like that it plays to his strength in mathematics!” – Mr. Adeyemi
“I LOVE G & T. It’s really fun, and Mrs. Kumpf is very nice. There are no grades, homework, or tests, but they teach you how to solve tough problems and to think smarter so that you can be prepared for middle school. It’s a challenge and it makes your brain run a marathon!” – Mikey Phillips, (Grade 4)
We are thankful to Mrs. McInerney and Mrs. Kumpf for building this successful TCS Gifted & Talented Program for our excelling students!
