Meet TCS alumnus Seth Jensen who graduated in the class of 2008. He is currently a nurse anesthetist at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, NJ. He is happily married with three active children ages four, seven, and nine. Seth recently came back to TCS for one of our STEM panels where he, alongside other nurses, talked about his career as an anesthetist. He also was one of the 21 alumni in attendance at our 10th Annual Golf Classic this year. This was his first time at the golf classic and Seth noted that he was impressed with the great turnout!
Let’s hear more from Seth about how grateful he is for the biblical, educational foundation that TCS gave him.
What do you love most about TCS?
I loved the Christian education I received at TCS. I also appreciated that all my teachers had a Christian worldview in how they taught different subjects.
What is one word that best describes the school? Why?
Well-rounded. TCS is well-rounded because of the Christian education they provide. They care for the kids and want what’s best for them socially, academically, and mentally.
Describe one of your favorite memories of TCS.
Riot night in high school was such a fun time every year. Especially when we won our senior year.
How are faith and learning integrated at TCS?
Faith is integrated into every subject taught at TCS. There is a balance between faith and academics where both prayer and intellectual discussion are encouraged.
In what ways did TCS prepare you for college and beyond?
TCS did a great job of offering more rigorous classes like AP classes. There was a good level of academic challenge, a level that I needed in college.
From your own experience, why do you believe it was important for you to attend TCS?
To this day, I am still friends with many of the people I went to high school with. It also gave me a Christian worldview that shapes the rest of my life including what I do as a career and how I raise my kids.
What do you like best about your career?
I studied nursing in college because I found it interesting with a strong job outlook. After working in the ER and ICU, I decided to go back to school to become a nurse anesthetist. I love what I do because it’s mentally challenging every day, no two days are the same, and I get to help people improve their lives.
What would you tell a friend to encourage them to send their child to TCS?
If you’re looking for a new environment to place your children where teachers will really care about them, TCS is a great place!
