This has been an exceptionally cold winter in New Jersey, and our students have found a way to help those in need stay warm. For several years, TCS elementary has participated in donating to Blankets of Hope. You can even see TCS as one of the partnership sites listed on the interactive map on their website, along with over 500 schools who have donated over 150,000 blankets and handwritten notes to those in need throughout the years!

Mrs. McInerney shared about the special chapel that elementary students had where they learned more about Blankets of Hope.

In the elementary chapels, the students learned about the meaning of the word empathy. They watched a short video about 2 brothers who believe that “the secret to living is giving.” They started a ministry for homeless people called Blankets of Hope. Students around the country participate and write encouraging letters and donate blankets to homeless people. We partner up with a church that has a ministry for the homeless and delivers blankets to people who need them.

We are very thankful for all the support from our TCS families who sent in new blankets to give hope and share love with others!

In God’s word it talks about how we are to show compassion and empathy to others.

1 Peter 3:8 “Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind.”

Our students wrote and attached letters to each blanket, sharing verses, prayers, and the love of Jesus with whoever will receive it. Over 200 blankets were donated by our families! Grace Chapel in Bedminster sent representative Josh Knaub to pick up the blankets. They will be delivered to those in need this weekend. We are grateful that at Timothy Christian School we have opportunities like this to teach our youngest students that they are not too young to serve and be a blessing to others!
