How often do you thank your local police officer? Men and women serving in Law Enforcement have dedicated their lives, and sometimes sacrificed their lives, enforcing laws that serve to protect us. They are often underappreciated. January 9th is a day set aside to recognize and appreciate them for all that they do! Timothy Christian School looks forward each year to the opportunity to participate in this special day! We invite law enforcement officers from all the towns where our students reside to come to our campus for our annual Drive-Thru Breakfast.

This year’s attendees included 64 Law Enforcement Officers from 17 Departments who arrived in 36 cars. We were also delighted to have Mayor Brian Wahler of Piscataway join us again this year. Excitement for the kids grew as the police cars turned on their blinking lights with sirens blazing and one of our alumni, State Trooper Melissa Soucek (’07), arrived with her horse. A few of our students were especially excited to see their own parents who serve in law enforcement in the line!

Officers lined up in their cars on Ethel Road and entered the front part of campus where they were greeted by elementary students waving and cheering, Timothy the Tiger, and the high school cheerleaders cheering special cheers created just for them! As each car pulled up, they received a warm welcome and words of appreciation from one of our staff and administrative leadership team members. Some of the elementary students handed the officers special hand-made cards and notes thanking them for all they do and letting them know that we are praying for their safety and protection. At the next “stop” each officer received a gift – a special Law Enforcement Bible for all first-time guests and a prayer journal for all our returning officers. Wonderful parent volunteers served coffee, hot chocolate and gave out bags full of breakfast snacks.

Another highlight of the drive-thru was Chick-fil-A representatives serving each officer a breakfast sandwich! Timothy Christian School is so grateful to the Chick-fil-A of South Plainfield who has partnered with us the last few years to bless Law Enforcement.

As always, the officers were so very grateful to be appreciated. As we greeted and thanked them, many responded with “Thank YOU!”

When officers from the Plainfield Police Department were not able to attend at the last moment, Timothy Christian School staff took the drive thru to them! We delivered Chick-fil-A breakfast sandwiches, snack bags, and gifts. Lieutenant Michael McLoughlin expressed his gratitude, “I would like to take this time to extend a “Thank You” from the Plainfield Police Department, to all those at Timothy Christian who helped out today in ensuring that our officers were thought of today on National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. The Plainfield Police Department is grateful and appreciates all your school does for the students and the community.”

We deeply appreciate all our donors and the staff, students and volunteers who endured the frigid temperatures that made this day possible! We pray that the officers felt appreciated and encouraged and that the Lord will protect them as they faithfully serve to protect us!
