Why did you choose TCS for your child?

One of the blessings of the pandemic for our family was that the Lord used that experience to lead our family to TCS. After many years in the public school system, we sensed it was time to make a change. We were looking for a school with a rigorous academic program that would partner with us in providing our son with a firm foundation in Christ. We were familiar with the school since we knew several families with children at TCS and had attended a church which meets at TCS back when we were college students. When we attended a preview day, it was pretty amazing to realize our son could sit in the same chapel we had sat in decades earlier and have the truth of God’s Word poured into him just as we had.

What do you love most about TCS?

What we love most about TCS is the encouraging environment. Students are encouraged to discover the gifts and the talents the Lord has blessed them with and to use them. Our son came to TCS as a middle school student which can be a challenging time of life. Both the staff and students were so warm and welcoming, and we have found that continues to be the case. There is a strong sense of community and caring for one another.

What is one word that best describes the school? Why?

Haven is the word we would choose since TCS has been that for our family. The world our son will be entering as a young adult feels very different than the one that we encountered. At TCS, he is being taught with a biblical worldview that’s helping him to grow and develop both spiritually and academically. TCS feels like a safe port to be anchored in for our son’s education during this critical time of development.

In what ways have you seen your child grow and develop as a result of their experience at TCS?

Within a very short time of being at TCS, we saw a joy come back into our son’s life that had been missing for some time. We have seen him grow closer to God, closer to others, and develop more confidence in himself.

How is TCS preparing your child for college and beyond?

TCS offers the challenging academic schedule we wanted for our son with many honors, AP, and dual-enrollment classes in the high school. We find he is being challenged and taught to think critically for himself. Being part of the STEM Scholars program has been a wonderful opportunity for him to explore the field that he’s interested in while still in high school. Our son has found plenty of activities to participate in and the smaller size of TCS allows him to develop relationships with both older and younger students as well as his teachers. Most importantly, all of this is taking place in the context of a Christian environment. TCS is helping to provide a strong academic and spiritual foundation for his college years.

What would you tell another parent to encourage them to consider enrolling their child at TCS?

We would definitely encourage them to check out a preview day. We remember being so impressed by the students we encountered on the tour and it just confirmed for us that TCS was where our son needed to be at this time. We are so incredibly blessed to be a part of the TCS family and would love to see other families have that same opportunity.
