Why did you choose TCS for your children?
Timothy Christian School was highly recommended to us by the ministers that officiated our wedding. When our oldest son was ready for kindergarten, we took a tour of the school with Ms. McKay. By the middle of the tour, we knew Timothy was going to be home for our three children. We felt welcomed, and we loved the thought of our children starting here in kindergarten and finishing in high school. I believe that as families come and meet with staff and students, they will also feel that way.
We have now been at Timothy for 11 years and as parents who are both public school educators we cannot say enough about the importance of Christian education. With the curriculum that NJ is now mandating in the public schools, it is more important to us than ever that our children are at Timothy where the morals and values being taught are in harmony with what we believe and are teaching them at home.
What do you love most about TCS?
What I love most about the school is the love that we feel on campus! All of the teachers love the Lord Jesus Christ and share this love with their students. The staff prays for the students daily. You can experience this on Fridays, as staff and parents come together for prayer. I absolutely feel the love that my children get from their teachers, coaches, and administrators.
What is one word that best describes the school? Why?
One word that I would use to describe Timothy Christian School is community. I say that because the school does an excellent job of making the community feel welcomed. One way they do this is by mentoring students. Students are not only mentored by staff but are also mentored by older students who come into the younger grades to volunteer as teacher assistants. Mentorship is also evident in athletics. Many TCS alumni volunteer to assist in practices with current TCS athletes. Once a year they also reach out to law enforcement agencies, war veterans and also to the pastors to appreciate their service to our community. They do this by having special assemblies dedicated to them.
In what ways have you seen your child grow and develop as a result of their experience at TCS?
I believe that my children have grown in their faith as Christians. At school, prayer is modeled to all students on a daily basis. They are also required to attend chapel once a week. In the chapel they learn from a diverse group of special guest preachers. My children’s knowledge of the Bible has grown exponentially over the past ten years.
How is TCS preparing your child for college and beyond?
The school has a high standard of excellence for its students. Timothy is preparing our students with a rigorous curriculum throughout the school. Moreover, in high school, students will have the option of taking advanced placement classes with college professors.
What would you tell another parent to encourage them to consider enrolling their child at TCS?
To Future parents of Timothy Christian School, I promise you will find a school that will challenge your children. It is a place that will love your children. It is a school that will treat you like a member of the family. You will see this at sporting events, homecoming and at Grandparents Day. One aspect of Timothy Christian that I appreciate is that my sophomore, 7th grader, and 4th grader are all dropped off and picked up from the same location. I also want to mention that my children love their school and love the staff! Enrolling my kids at Timothy Christian School is one of the best decisions that my wife and I have ever made.
