Why did you choose TCS for your child?
My husband and I wanted a solid academic experience, but we wanted to be sure that the educators delivering that education would be good role models and living examples of having faith in Jesus. We liked the diversity of the students and wanted our children to make lifelong friendships with children from different backgrounds, but with the same Christian values. We were also impressed by the school’s athletic department and the opportunity it offered to further develop our children’s Christian character and in turn be examples of good sportsmanship to students from other schools. The smaller size of the school also was appealing, and we knew that our children would not “be lost in the crowd.” Having a curriculum that extends all the way through high school was also important for the consistency and stability it offers. Most importantly, we wanted them to get a solid foundation in Biblical Doctrine and knew that going to TCS would accomplish this.
What do you love most about TCS?
First of all, we love that they hear God’s word every day! We love that they memorize scripture which stays stored up in their minds! It’s also been great to see how teachers are able to present everything from a Christian worldview. We pray that this combination of having the Word in their heart and the practical understanding of the Christian worldview will give them the confidence to stand firm in their beliefs throughout their life. All their teachers have been great because they take the time to understand each student’s needs and personalities and encourage them accordingly. It’s also good to see the different ways TCS serves others (Christmas shoebox, DR collections, DR trip, Relief Bus, Senior Homes, Bright Beginnings, etc). We also love that they have been able to learn a new instrument, play in the band, and play on a baseball team where they have learned so much about teamwork and sportsmanship.
What is one word that best describes the school? Why?
Impactful. This word can be applied to the many parts that as a whole, help the school reflect its mission statement. TCS puts God first. From the beginning to end of each day, the students learn God’s word and witness God’s love through their teachers and all of the school’s staff. TCS respects every student and family and meets them where they are. TCS understands that they can be a light in their community and finds ways to outreach in order to shine that light. Every decision is made prayerfully and with their mission statement in mind. In all of these ways, TCS strives to have a positive and God-glorifying impact on their students, the families, and the community.
In what ways have you seen your child grow and develop as a result of their experience at TCS?
Most significantly, because they have been educated from a Christian worldview, their opinions about what is happening in the world around them is a reflection of that worldview. We know there will be challenges to their faith after they graduate from TCS, but as mentioned previously , we pray that the Christian values instilled in them throughout their years at TCS will always prevail.
How is TCS preparing your child for college and beyond?
There is open communication with the guidance counselor. The curriculum stays on track with the requirements. There are also opportunities for dual credit classes. Additionally, we also appreciated the seminar by Thrivent and benefited from the three complimentary meetings.
What would you tell another parent to encourage them to consider enrolling their child at TCS?
TCS will not only prepare your child academically but will also give them a solid foundation in God’s word. TCS will love your child, and everyone will know their name. TCS teachers/administrators are very accessible, should you have any questions or concerns. At TCS, you and your child will feel like you are part of a big family.
