The Christmas story is a critical piece of faith at Timothy Christian School. It’s also a critical piece of reading and writing for the first grade students. A major focus of the first grade curriculum, learning to read and write is a foundational piece of a strong education. Here at Timothy Christian School, even the youngest students are investing time in building their academic future. Reading comprehension, finding patterns in words, and becoming comfortable with reading orally are key skills that must be mastered in the early years. In order to practice their writing and reading, first grade students wrote paragraphs describing the true meaning of Christmas and practiced reading the materials orally to the class. The gift of reading and writing sets students up for academic success in every discipline and provides skills necessary to better understand God’s Word. The Christmas story is utilized to provide academic and eternal benefits which are benefits that go hand-in-hand for the students at Timothy Christian School.
