In this season of giving, Timothy Christian School is excited to give to others in need! We are participating in a Thanksgiving food drive to help My Neighbor’s Pantry which is a local food pantry in Somerset, NJ.

This food pantry is run by one of our alumni parents, Aixa Katz, and is a ministry of Zarephath Christian Church. All of our K4-12th grade students are participating! This year, we are looking to put together Thanksgiving boxes for the food pantry. Here are the items that the food pantry is requesting for each box.

Rice

Instant Mashed Potatoes

Corn Bread/Muffin Mix

Mac & Cheese

Cranberry Sauce

Canned or Dried Black Beans

Canned Yams

Canned Fruit

Canned Green Beans

Canned Corn

Canned Chicken or Turkey Gravy

In the elementary school, students will be donating items to complete one box per class! We are so excited to give back and show our thankfulness. God has richly blessed us and we want to bless others.

In the middle school, there is a grade level competition to see which grade can bring in supplies to make the most complete meal boxes. Families can either donate items to complete full boxes or bring in certain food items to help in a coordinated effort to make as many complete boxes as possible. The grade level with the most complete meal boxes will earn a pizza party. Any MS grade that packs 10 boxes or more will earn a dress down day.

In the high school, the Thanksgiving collection is rolled into the HS Spirit Week competitions. Grade levels get points for every completed box. Students will be organizing themselves as to how they will be securing these items.

We are thankful to all our TCS families for shopping and generously donating the needed food items and to Wayne Gehret for supplying the packing boxes. We also especially appreciate Mrs. Dina Spiess for working with Aixa Katz to coordinate our efforts at Timothy. The deadline for the food collection is Friday morning, November 20.This is the day we will fill the “Hope Truck” with the donations from our entire school!

Even in the midst of turbulent times, we have much to be thankful for this year. It is our prayer that we will be able to give generously to feed those who are in need right here in our area.
