On Wednesday, October 20, Timothy Christian School was blessed to have popular speaker and author, Dr. Jason Lisle, come to share in Chapel for students in grades K4 -12! Parents and alumni in the area were invited to attend as well.
A Christian astrophysicist and founder of the Biblical Science Institute, Dr. Jason Lisle researches issues pertaining to science and the Christian faith. Dr. Lisle presents a rational defense of a literal Genesis, showing how science confirms the history recorded in the Bible.
Miss McKay was delighted to have such a renowned speaker come to share at TCS.
“It was a terrific opportunity to expose our kids to someone who is an expert in his field. He explained how each planet is so uniquely designed, how the way that the universe operates defies the logic of evolution and how the heavens clearly and scientifically point to a miraculous detailed Creator. He opened ours eyes to new wonder.”
For the elementary and middle school students, Dr. Lisle spoke about Dinosaurs and the Bible.
It was a really cool chapel, said 7th grader, Andras Szasz. “I liked learning about the dinosaurs and that they became extinct later than I had thought. Dr. Lisle also taught us many things that prove that the earth is not millions of years old.”
In our high school chapel, Dr. Lisle did a presentation called the Worlds of Creation which examines our solar system and demonstrates how it points to God as Creator.
10th grader Willow Portee especially appreciated hearing Dr. Lisle. “He is an exemplary astrophysicist and man of God. His explanations to my questions were well thought out and you could tell his research was impacted by his Biblical worldview. His passion for astrophysics was so impactful that he excited everyone around him.”
Dr. Lisle obtained his Ph.D. in astrophysics at the University of Colorado in Boulder. There, he used the SOHO spacecraft to analyze the surface of the sun, and made a number of interesting discoveries, including the detection of giant cell boundaries. Since then, Dr. Lisle has worked in full-time apologetics ministry. He wrote a number of planetarium shows for the Creation Museum, including the popular “Created Cosmos.” Dr. Lisle has authored a number of best-selling books on the topic of creation, including: Taking Back Astronomy, Stargazer’s Guide to the Night Sky, the Ultimate Proof of Creation, Discerning Truth, and Understanding Genesis.
