Following a sports model, the Timothy Christian FIRST® Tech Challenge team designs, builds, programs, and operates a robot of its own design to play a floor game (revealed each September) in an alliance format. Guided by adult coaches and mentors, students develop STEM skills and practice engineering principles, while realizing the value of hard work, innovation, and sharing ideas.
The season runs from September to April. The practice schedule includes one after school practice, one evening practice, and one Saturday morning practice per week during the season. Competitions are held by region on selected Friday evenings and Saturdays, approximately 6 times per year. The team is open to students in grades 7-12.
In the 2016/2017 season, the team won ALL of their matches and was one of three teams nominated for First Tech Challenge’s MOTIVATE Award at its robotics competition. The team also hosted the ‘Frozen Frenzy’ First Tech Challenge Qualifier in January in our TCS gym for 30 teams from around the state.
