Jonathan Barr

B.S. English Literature, Liberty University

“We live in an affluent and densely populated part of the country. There are thousands of Christian families, yet almost no high schools that effectively train young people from a Biblical worldview. My passion and burden is to serve these families and engage and inspire their children.”

Favorite Scripture Verse:  Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened. But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. For it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. I Peter 3:13-17

It is a blessing to be able to work with an administration, faculty and staff who have a heart for serving God by teaching, training and loving their students. I have a passion for sharing the ministry of Timothy Christian School with others. It is a joy to work with parents, alumni and donors. I love being part of helping TCS become the best it can be to fulfill its’ mission of equipping students to live productive God-glorifying lives. I am blessed to have my 3 children attend TCS. What they are receiving at Timothy, they cannot get anywhere else! My children are truly being discipled for Christ.”

Rebecca Fortugno

R. PriceHS English Teacher

B.A. in English and Sociology
“I love teaching because it is part of Jesus Christ’s ministry. Teaching helps advance God’s kingdom by allowing teachers to embody Christ and to show love and light to students that do not know God.

Every person is an advocate for Christ and exudes his love. This love makes Timothy a place that truly fulfills Christ-centered education.”

Favorite Scripture Verse: If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 1 John 4:15-18

Many of my own family members and I are alumni of this school, and we each have our own ties to this place through athletics, staff, and other alumni who have in many ways become our extended family. This community has provided me with support academically as a student, spiritually through mentorship, and now professionally by inviting me back as a teacher and colleague. The Christ-centered atmosphere changes everyday interactions between the faculty, the staff, and the students into uplifting and life-giving connections. Choosing to return to Timothy as a teacher was simply following my heart’s desire to be somewhere where Jesus’ love would be showcased daily.”

I love teaching because I love to bring out the best in my students. I enjoy creating a warm classroom environment where students feel known and respected. This sets the tone for students to achieve high academic and personal goals.

I love the community at Timothy. The parents, students, and staff at Timothy are so supportive and caring. I have experienced this as a teacher and as a parent of a student at Timothy. Last year my kindergartner had an emergency appendectomy. During her recovery she received cards, surprises, and prayers from the Timothy community. She could not wait to get back to school and told me several times how loved she felt. I wouldn’t want her to go to school anywhere else!

“I love Timothy because it is a place where children can learn about God’s word and His love while receiving a great education.  Timothy is special because it provides a Christ-centered education where children can grow spiritually and learn how to live Godly lives as they mature as students and as individuals.”

“I love kids. They are so unpredictable. The smallest things can excite them or upset them. You see this daily in the classroom. Although it can be challenging, it also brings great joy when you see their countenance change because they’ve succeeded or when a few words of encouragement or extra attention makes all the difference between success and failure for them.”

Favorite Scripture Verse: I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore. Psalm 121:1-8
