Library/media Center

Library/Media Center

The media center (library) is divided into elementary and upper school portions and serves students from grades K4- 12. With a collection of more than 14,000 titles students can choose books to read for pleasure, lean about topics of interest, and to compliment online resources as they work on research projects. 12 student computers and a quiet or group study room are also available. Middle and High school students may visit the library during study hall and before or after school. A computer lab of 24 workstations is available to full classes at the teacher’s request.

In elementary grades younger students have a story time and a chance to select
a book to borrow. They learn basics of a library such as caring for and parts of a book, the difference between fiction and nonfiction, and favorite authors and illustrators. Upper elementary students borrow books, learn about the genres of fiction, the Dewey Decimal system and use of the online catalog. Beginning online research and learning about cyber safety round out their sessions.
