New backpacks, classmates, teachers and goals: The start of a new school year is always an exciting one! At TCS there are some notable changes with the start of the 2018/2019 school year.

Probably one of the most significant differences is a new Head of School. Dr. Smock joined TCS at the start of July. With over 30 years of experience in education and Christian education, Smock brings extensive experience in increasing enrollment, campus expansions and developing innovative curriculums.

One of his goals for this coming year is to get to know each of you.

“I’m looking forward to getting to know so many new people. I know TCS has a great family and I’m encouraged to be a part of it,” Smock adds. “I’m also focused on moving forward with our Strategic Planning and developing the vision and the direction for the future of TCS.”

Laura McKay steps in as Middle School and High School Principal. Having ministered at TCS for 29 years in various roles including seven years as HS principal, she is well-equipped to fill this position. With a commitment to academic excellence and a heart for fostering spiritual growth in all students, McKay wants students and parents to know that developing all aspects of their character is top of mind.

“While there are standards and levels of expectations for students academically and behaviorally, they are cared for and loved by their teachers and principal,” says McKay. “I want students to know that we are here for them, will listen to them and want them to succeed.”

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) will be a big focus this year as it will be incorporated into many different curriculums. A new green house is going up on TCS property to give students of all ages hands-on experiences in science. Timothy also welcomes a new Athletics Director. Nick Badillo, a local Pastor who is no stranger to TCS having been involved for the past four years as retreat speaker, TIP host parent and athletic coach. Coach Badillo brings his dynamic personality, care for his athletes and passion for discipleship to the well-established TCS athletic program.

“I’m excited to see what God is going to do in the lives of our coaches and student athletes. As we grow together in the Lord, we are also excited to see our student athletes excel as they compete in each season,” Badillo explains. “Having won two Gold Division Championships last year and seeing one athlete take home the prestigious awards of All County in two different sports, we wait with great anticipation to see what this year will bring.”

Thanks to the generous donations of many TCS alumni, families, and friends, the gym will soon have a new floor and new bleachers. This summer $57,818 was donated to replace our bleachers and gymnasium floor. We praise God that the necessary funds came in when they were much needed.

Timothy welcomed several new faculty to the middle and high school as well as a new business manager. You can see the full list of faculty and staff here.

We encourage your prayers for them, our students and families. To our new families, WELCOME!

We look forward to all the Lord will do this school year!
